Forrest “Ray” Leniger
Sept. 28, 1926 – July 27, 2020
Ray passed away July 27, 2020 of natural causes. He was born in Dodge City, Kansas Sept. 28, 1926 to Treasure McCune and Elijah Leniger. Ray grew up in Kansas, Oklahoma, Idaho and Vanport, OR. He graduated from Roosevelt High in 1944. He spent time in the Merchant Marines and the Army. In 1952 he married Phyllis Henderson. They were married for 38 years until her passing in 1990. In 1993 he married Evelyn Irvine.
Ray worked in the shipyards while living in Vanport. He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad and Amtrak for 40 years.
He was a lifetime member of the Oregon City Elks. He and Evelyn spent 15 years wintering in Arizona where he loved to golf, play tennis and square dance.
Ray is survived by his loving wife Evelyn; step-children, Brenda, Lisa and Steven: step-grandson, Tanner; brothers, Edwin and James; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brother William Leniger and sister Dolores Dummer.
