Obituary of Ernest Green

Salem- Jerry Green, 79, passed away peacefully with his family by his side after a long, courageous battle with congestive heart failure. Jerry was born in Manor, Kansas to Claude & Melinda Green. He was the youngest of 12 children. He graduated in 1950 from Klamath Falls High School. He served aboard the U.S.S. Kidd during WWII for 3 years and 9 months. Jerry married Donna on July 3, 1955 at Fern Wood Community Church in Idaho. She was the love of his life for 45 years until her death in 2001. They immediately moved to Oregon where they started and operated Green Spray Service. They had two children, Darwin Paul and Rhonda Jo. Jerry was active at Salem Elks, traveling with the RV Club, playing cards, shooting pool with friends and family, crabbing, and deep sea fishing. He loved dancing (all the women loved to dance with him)! He also enjoyed the Senior 50+ center, golfing, and spending time with family and friends. He was a loving father and had a great sense of humor, even until the end of his life. Everyone enjoyed being around him. He attended First Church of the Nazarene where he was baptized. Jerry loved and married Wallie Cawthon on Dec. 7, 2003 until she passed away in 2011. Jerry is survived by his sister; Ray Bolden, children; Darwin Green and Rhonda Manning, son-in-law; Larry Manning, daughter-in-law; Antonia Green, grandchildren; Shawna Anundi (Eric), Corey Manning (Tiffany), Tara Manning, Michael Green, and Geneva Green, great grandchildren; Kyle and Kaleb Anundi, Terron and Nollan Manning. At his request, a private family service will be held at a later date. Contributions can be made to Elks National Foundations. “God saw you getting tired, when a cure was not to be. So He closed His arms around you, and whispered, come with me. You didn’t deserve what you went through. And so He gave you rest. God’s Garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best. And when I saw you sleeping, so peaceful and free from pain, I could not wish you back, to suffer that again.” We love you Dad, Grandpa, Brother & Friend!
